This ILM course is designed to provide you with the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary to excel in a team leading role. The course covers essential aspects of team leadership, focusing on leadership styles, team dynamics, motivation, planning, and performance management.

Throughout the course, learners explore the key principles of team leadership and gain a deeper understanding of their role in fostering collaboration and achieving team goals. They learn how to communicate clearly and confidently with team members, delegate tasks effectively, and resolve conflicts within the team. Additionally, learners develop skills in motivating and inspiring team members to enhance productivity and maintain a positive working environment.

The course consists of 3 units:

Unit 1: Understanding Leadership

  • We will cover leadership styles and the factors that can influence the choice of leadership
  • The positive and negative impacts of these different leadership styles.
  • Assessing your own leadership styles and behaviours.
  • Looking at actions to develop your own leadership style.

Unit 2: Planning and monitoring work

  • We will look at organisational policy and planning 
  • The stages involved with planning and allocating work to others
  • How to allocate work efficiently to your team
  • Performance management

Unit 3: Management of self

  • The benefits of effective time management
  • Time management tools and techniques
  • Workplace stress and how to effectively manage stress

Upon completion of the ILM Level 2 Award in Leadership & Team Skills course, you will be equipped with the knowledge to contribute to the success of your team. This qualification enhances employability in a leadership position, such as team leader, supervisor, or coordinator.
